Newbury College & Educafe collaboration

Newbury College and Educafe are offering a new range of courses from November to provide additional support to non-native speakers within our West Berkshire community.

The new collaboration underscores both organisations’ commitment to educational excellence and community empowerment, particularly for those new to the area or country.

The new courses are designed to provide comprehensive language support, ensuring that individuals from diverse backgrounds can thrive both academically and socially. The partnership reflects a shared vision between Newbury College and Educafe of local collaboration to create inclusive educational opportunities that support personal and professional growth.

"We are delighted to collaborate with Educafe on this important initiative. Our mission has always been to provide exceptional education that serves the community, and this partnership allows us to extend our reach and impact even further. “We believe these courses will positively impact community connection and development of skills, setting learners up for employment or further training.”
Dr Jo Houghton
Vice Principal HE and Skills at Newbury College

Educafe’s weekly community cafe at Newbury Library has seen hundreds of English Learners blossom thanks to its drop-in English conversation sessions, affectionately known as ‘Chatty Corner’. This friendly but purposeful approach acts as a springboard to further education, training, or employment.

Utilising the excellent facilities at Newbury College alongside an in-depth understanding of the region’s skills needs, the partnership will strengthen community connection with education and skills, forming a wider educational hub for the community.

"Many of Educafe’s learners are trying to improve their language skills to secure employment and build a life here in West Berkshire. Being welcomed to Newbury College will help reinforce they are part of our community and boost their confidence."
Clare Middleton
Educafe Director

The courses will start in November and will include:

  • ~ Job Support Club – English for Work
  • ~ Business Communications
  • ~ Life in the UK: Living in the Community

Newbury College and Educafe look forward to welcoming new students and making a positive impact through this valuable partnership.
