Educafe Beginner Courses

Educafe beginner language support courses are for people with little or no English.

The courses are designed to help prepare people for living and working in the UK.

Educafe beginner language support courses are for people with little or no English to help prepare people for living and working in the UK. The courses provide weekly motivating, topic-based lessons that support fast language acquisition.

The courses focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar.

Language content includes:

  • friends and family relationships
  • days/dates months/times in the calendar
  • birthdays, anniversaries, public holidays, seasons
  • common weather words
  • food, colours, clothes, music
  • hobbies, leisure/retail/culture
  • educational opportunities offered by the local area
  • rooms, fixtures, and fittings of the home and common household objects
  • clothing including adjectives to describe cut, shape, colour, material, pattern, texture,
  • quality
  • parts of the body and common ailments
  • emotions and personality types.
  • learn how to tell the time and make appointments/reservations on the phone
  • British homes and lifestyles

No Exams!

Our courses do not require the students to take exams. However, students learners are regularly assessed for progress and to understand their level of English.

Learners will also

  • be able to communicate with their children’s schools and teachers.
  • be able to communicate with Health Care Specialists.
  • be able to communicate with other supporting agencies.
  • be able to engage with the wider community.

Learners will need to buy workbooks & coursebooks to support this course.

Eligibility

Most of our courses are FREE to students who live in West Berkshire and are UK Citizens, or hold Settled Status and/or are entitled to UK Public Funds. We will need to see Biometric Visa and proof of address. Asylum seekers need to have been resident in the UK for six-months before applying for a course. Students who are unsure can contact us for more details.
