There’s something truly special about gathering with like-minded people to share stories, laughter and a love for crafting. At Educafe, our Knit and Natter group does just that, bringing together a wonderful mix of creativity, kindness and community spirit. Every stitch tells a story and our members have been working on some truly heart-warming projects that make a difference both locally and further afield.

A Blanket of Imagination
Sheila, Elaine and Pat have teamed up for a wonderfully imaginative project: a playground field or farm-themed blanket designed especially for children’s toys. This colourful, textured landscape — complete with fields, pathways and playful details — will offer little ones a unique surface to play and explore. Their teamwork reflects a shared passion for crafting with purpose and like all our projects, this piece will be donated to benefit the community.
Caring for the Tiniest Lives
Rose has dedicated her knitting talents to supporting premature babies in hospitals. She lovingly makes baby hats and premature baby blankets, providing essential warmth and comfort to tiny infants in their most vulnerable days. Over the years she’s also knitted baby jackets and other thoughtful pieces and every item she creates is donated with care to support families in neonatal wards.

Blankets for Those in Need
Maureen’s knitting reaches people near and far. She’s been creating blankets for individuals experiencing homelessness, those affected by the conflict in Ukraine and others facing hardship. Each blanket she makes is a gift of warmth, hope and kindness. A simple but meaningful act that reminds people they’re not alone.
Knitting for Good Causes
Elaine continues to be a generous force within the group, knitting hats, cardigans and baby jackets for various charities. In one touching project she created six tank tops for a customer and donated all the proceeds to charity. Like the rest of our Knit and Natter creations, these pieces are made with love and donated to help others.

A Royal Touch in Every Stitch
One of our talented Knit and Natter members is currently working on something a little different — a beautifully detailed set of knitted Royal Family dolls. Each figure is carefully crafted with thoughtful details and character, bringing a charming, woolly version of Britain’s most famous family to life.
It’s a wonderful example of the creativity and skill within our group and has already sparked conversation about future possibilities. We’re hoping she might later be able to create knitted dolls for little ones, with proceeds going to the Educafe Fund. These special keepsakes would make lovely gifts while helping to support our community projects at the same time.
All for a good cause
What makes these projects even more special is that every item is donated, whether it’s a cosy blanket, a tiny hat for a newborn or a playful children’s blanket, it’s made to bring comfort, joy and support to those who need it most. It’s such a heart-warming thing to witness: a community of crafters using their talents to help others one stitch at a time.

Support Educafe – Help Us Make a Difference
At Educafe, we believe in the power of community, connection and opportunity. Every week, we welcome people from all walks of life to share, learn and grow together, whether it’s through our friendly Chatty Corner sessions, Parent Village meet-ups, wellbeing activities, or community drop-ins.
None of this would be possible without the generosity and kindness of those who support us. As a small community organisation, we rely on donations to continue offering free, inclusive and welcoming spaces for everyone.
If you value what we do, please consider making a donation, however big or small. Every contribution helps us to provide essential services, organise more community events, and offer support to those who need it most.
You can donate easily via our website or speak to a member of our team at any of our sessions.
Together, we can keep our community connected, supported and thriving.
Thank you for being part of the Educafe family.
