Educafe

Community of Practice

Educafe’s Community of Practice aims to support outreach officers, activists and leaders who are building stronger, more connected communities in public venues and spaces.

Over the past six years, Educafe has grown into a robust network, supporting community cohesion. social connection, language and learning, family wellbeing, volunteering, and pathways into work.

Our team (pictured) have learned that community change happens through relationships, trust, and consistent presence. We now want to create a virtual network to exchange these kinds of learnings and learn from others doing similar work.

This Community of Practice is an informal network where we can discuss our work, exchange knowledge and connect with others working in community development, local services, grassroots organisations, and volunteer-led initiatives.

Our network aims to:

– create stronger support for people doing important community work

– open up honest conversations about what works, what doesn’t and ideas for doing things better

– equip community leaders to understand and communicate the value and impact of community infrastructure.

To join our network please, register for our Togetherness Project…

Through connecting regularly – whether IRL or virtually – to reflect, share knowledge and practical tools, we aim to strengthen support for those who are doing the often unseen work of holding communities TOGETHER.

Whether you are starting something new, sustaining an established project, or seeking thoughtful peer support, we would love to invite you to  reach out and connect with us.

In late 2026, we plan to host …

VIRTUAL COFFEE

Informal, facilitated online conversations offering a regular point of connection. These sessions provide space to:

→ Introduce and get to know each other

→ Share what you’re working on

→ Reflect on challenges, and learn from others facing similar realities.

There is no preparation required — just bring yourself and a willingness to listen and contribute.

AD-HOC SOUNDING BOARDS

Small, responsive sessions convened around a specific question or challenge raised by a member. Sounding boards offer a trusted space to test ideas, think through decisions, or gain perspective from peers who understand community-based work. Sessions are scheduled as needed and participation is entirely voluntary.

practice spotlights / learning exchanges

Focused sessions where a member or organisation shares a piece of their work, learning, or approach in more depth. These exchanges are practical and experience-led, with time for discussion and shared reflection. They are designed to surface learning that others can adapt in their own contexts.

You are welcome to join one activity, dip in occasionally, or stay closely connected over time. The Community of Practice is shaped by those who take part.
