Face-to-face in Newbury

This course is for adults who already understand and use some everyday English and would like to communicate more confidently and accurately. Learners will expand their vocabulary, improve their grammar and develop stronger speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Lessons are practical and connected to everyday life, work and participation in the local community.

The course may include:

-Holding longer conversations
-Describing experiences and explaining opinions
-Making appointments and dealing with services
-Writing emails, messages and short formal letters
-Understanding workplace and community information
-Reading longer texts and identifying key information
-Improving grammar, pronunciation and sentence structure
-Preparing for further ESOL learning or employment

How You’ll Learn

-No exams! Instead of formal testing, we assess your progress through regular class activities so you always know how you’re doing.
-After each session, you’ll receive a vocabulary list and/or grammar summary to review at home.
-We revisit this material in the next class to help strengthen your learning.

By the End of the Course, You Will Be Able To:

-Communicate confidently in everyday situations
-Speak with native English speakers
-Understand UK systems such as healthcare and education
-Engage with your local community and support services
-Prepare for further education, volunteering, or employment

Eligibility

For learners who:

-Live in West Berkshire
-Are UK citizens, have Settled Status, or are entitled to UK public funds
-Can provide a Biometric Visa and proof of address

If you are an asylum seeker, you must have been living in the UK for at least six months before applying.
