Appeal by the Community Furniture Project (Newbury) – Help support Afghan refugees in West Berkshire

We are working in partnership with West Berkshire Council to support Afghan
evacuees in local hotels whilst they await the identification of permanent
accommodation for them.
We are managing goods donations by receiving and sorting items for distribution to
those who need them.

We are currently in need of the following items:
• Boys clothes ages 9-16

• Men’s jeans or jogging bottoms (waist sizes 28, 30, 32 and 34)
• Men’s boxer shorts- sizes extra small, small and medium
Women’s sleep bras- sizes small and medium
• Women’s underwear- sizes 6, 8, 10 and 12
Raincoats for men, women and children of all ages
Toiletry kits to include:
• Men’s deodorant
• Women’s roll-on deodorant
• Men’s razors
• Women’s razors
• Bars of soap
• Colgate toothpaste
• Shampoo and conditioner
• Nail clippers
• Comb or hairbrush
• Hair bobbles
• Sanitary towels

Please ensure that the toiletries do not contain gelatine.

We would ask that all clothing donations are modest in nature as well as suitable for
autumnal weather.
In the case of socks and underwear, we would ask these are new with labels and
packaging in the interests of personal hygiene.
In the case of clothing, please ensure that clothing is washed and placed in bags
with labels indicating the size and type of clothing it contains. If you are donating a
variety of types and sizes, please bundle them separately so that we can sort and
distribute them easily.
In the case of shoes, we would ask that they are in a good condition, have closed
toes and are appropriate for autumnal weather.
